Nobody thought Suzy Batiz’s idea was a good one.

Not her husband, not her kids, not the brother-in-law who — inadvertently — sparked the idea for it.

Why not?

Well, it could be because Suzy had been bankrupt twice.

Or the fact that she had built over 12 businesses and none of them were successful.

Or perhaps it was that she was attempting to build a brand around something no one wanted to talk about: poop.

But when the business earned over $1 million in sales in its first year, it was clear that Suzy was on to something.

Suzy Batiz is the founder and CEO of Poo~Pourri, a toilet bowl spray that traps odors under the surface. That’s right… Suzy took the smell out of poop.

The road to Suzy’s success was far from easy… and it’s possibly the most inspiring one I’ve ever heard.

Suzy was born in Birmingham, Alabama. Her mother was depressed and addicted to prescription drugs. Her father was an alcoholic. Her step father was abusive. Her family was poor… Suzy started working at a young age to support herself.

She believed there was one thing that would help her escape her situation: money.

So, as a new bride at age 19, she made her first investment. Suzy bought a bridal salon.

It didn’t go well.

And at age 21, she found herself facing her first bankruptcy… but not her last.

By the end of the next year, Suzy would find herself divorced (for the second time), broke, homeless, and with 2 little kids to care for.

For the next 16 years, Suzy would start 12 more businesses, including a dot-com company that would cost her her home, her car, and just about anything else the bank could re-possess.

So… how did an entrepreneur in her 40s go from broke and depressed (with a history of being wildly unsuccessful) to creating a company that earned $1 million in its first year and has now sold 40 million bottles worldwide?

Good question.

This is what Suzy will explain at Hustle Con this December.

Her story — which combines spoken word, a killer presentation, and time for audience Q&A — is wild. It’s inspiring. And it’s forced me to think about my own business ideas in a completely new way.

If you’re someone who wants to learn from a founder that overcame every obstacle life can throw at a person…. a founder that built a business from a hobby… a founder whose viral marketing campaign brought in $4 million in revenue…
